Registration
1. How do I register?
- Philippines: For GLOBE and TOUCH MOBILE subscribers text IM to 2371.
- Philippines: For SMART and TALK N TEXT subscribers text ICHAT to 277.
- Thailand: For DTAC mobile phone subscribers text TM to 1919001.
- United States: For subscribers of U.S. mobile phone operators, click here.
- Others: For persons without GSM mobile phones, click here.
2. What is my Chikka ID?
- If you registered your mobile phone, then your Chikka ID is your mobile phone number (For example: 639171234567).
- If you did not register your mobile phone, then your Chikka ID is a combination of digits starting with 00 (For example: 009876543). The Chikka system automatically assigns Chikka ID numbers unless you have specified an ID number that you like when you registered for the service.
3. What is my password?
Your password is required to login and use the Chikka Application on your computer.
- For GLOBE and TOUCH MOBILE subscribers text PASSWORD to 2371. You will receive a text message with your account details.
- For SMART and TALK N TEXT subscribers text PASSWORD to 277. You will receive a text message with your account details.
- For DTAC mobile phone subscribers text P to 1919001. You will receive a text message with your account details.
- For subscribers of U.S. mobile phone operators and persons without mobile phones, you can retrieve your password from the Chikka Application. Launch the application in your computer and click on the FORGOT PASSWORD BUTTON. Follow succeeding instructions.
- You can change your password from the Chikka Application under the Update My Profile section.
4. Can I change my Chikka ID?
No, you cannot change your Chikka ID.
5. Do I need an email address to register?
No, you do not need an email address to register.
However, we recommend that you specify an email address under your personal profile. This will allow us to send you product updates and enhanced features including email forwarding.
You can add or edit your email address from the Chikka Application under the Update My Profile section.
6. Is registration free of charge?
Registration is free if you register from your computer. However, all text messages that you send from your mobile phone to any of Chikka's SMS access codes are charged the regular value-added-service rate.
- For mobile phone users of the Philippines, this is P2.50 per text message sent.
- For mobile phone users of Thailand, this is 3.00 baht per text message sent.
- For mobile phone users of the U.S., please check with your provider for corresponding rates.
7. I registered before. Do I need to register again?
No, you can use your existing Chikka ID for new and future versions of Chikka. If you've forgotten your password, see question #3 of this section.
8. I want to create a new account. Will I lose my buddies in my previous account?
Even though your buddy list will be preserved on your previous account, you cannot access it from your new account.
Installing Chikka
1. How do I install Chikka?
- First you must select which version of Chikka Txt Messenger you prefer. Click here to go to the download page.
- Save the application in your hard-drive.
- After the download has been completed, go to the folder where you saved the application.
- Run the application to start installing Chikka Txt Messenger.
2. What are the system requirements for Chikka to run properly?
- Operating System: Windows 95/98/2000/XP/ME/NT 4.0 and above
- Internet Connection: LAN or modem connection
- Soundcard (optional): 8-bit or 16-bit
- Processor: Intel Pentium processor
- RAM: 32 MB
- Disk Space: 8 MB
- Internet Explorer Browsers version 4.0 and above
Upgrades
1. Where can I find the latest version of Chikka?
Please click here to select your preferred version.
2. When I upgrade to a higher version, will I lose my previous buddy list?
No, you will still have the same buddies as long as you use the same account when logging on to the Chikka application.
3. When I install a higher version, do I need to uninstall the previous version?
Yes. While installing the new version, the installer will prompt you to automatically uninstall the version that you are currently using.
You can also manually uninstall the Chikka Application from your computer. For MS Windows users, go to the Start Menu, go to Programs, look for Chikka, then click on Uninstall.
