What is Chikka?
Chikka lets you send free text to mobile subscribers in the Philippines from anywhere in the world using any of the Chikka Text Messenger platforms.

What do I need to sign up for a Chikka account?
To sign up for a "Non-Mobile Account"
, you need a valid email address. Upon successful registration, a permanent system generated Chikka ID will be assigned to you. Your mobile contacts will see this number as the "sender" when they receive your text messages. They may then save this number in their address book. They can also text you to this number anytime from their mobile phones.If you own a Philippine mobile number (Globe Telecom, Smart Communications or Sun Cellular), you can create a "Mobile Account" linking your mobile phone and your Chikka ID together with a valid email address.
With a Mobile Account you can continue sending and receiving Chikka messages as text on your mobile even if you have signed out.
On signing in you can use any of your mobile number or email address as your Chikka ID.

How do I create an account?

I forgot my password, how do I retrieve my password?
You can retrieve your password by clicking the "Forgot your Password?" option on www.chikka.com. Non-Mobile Account users will receive their password in their verified email address while Mobile Account users will receive their password on their registered mobile phone number.
For Mobile accounts, you can also send PASSWORD to 2814 using your mobile phone. You will be charged P2.50 per text.

Can I use the same email address for 2 different Chikka accounts?
No. Your email address is unique to the Chikka account you registered it with. One email address is to one Chikka account.

Can I change my Chikka Number?
Your Chikka Number serves as your permanent Login ID and may not be changed. If you wish to change your mobile number, you can request for your Chikka account to be deleted and then just Sign up for a new one using your new mobile number.

How do I delete my account?
Using your registered email address, send the details of your account and reason for deletion to mailus@chikka.com.

Can I change my email address?
You can change your email address by signing in to your Chikka Text Messenger, go to My Chikka > My Profile. When you change your email address, you will need to verify your new email address before the change will take effect.

I have a Mobile Account, can I have my password sent to my email address?
No. For security reasons, our system will only send your password to your mobile phone if you have a Mobile Account. If you have a Non-Mobile Account, our system will send the password to the verified email address connected to the account.

Can I install Chikka in my Mac?
We currently do not have an installer available for Mac users but you can use Chikka Text Messenger for the Web, simply log on to www.chikka.com from your internet browser.

What is mobile forwarding?
Mobile forwarding allows you to receive all your offline Chikka messages on your registered mobile phone. This feature is only available for Mobile Accounts.
To enable, sign in to your Chikka Text Messenger account via Web or the Downloadable client. Go to My Chikka > Settings > Messages > Choose Forward incoming messages to my mobile phone when I am offline/idle.

What is email forwarding?
Email forwarding redirects all your offline Chikka messages to your registered email address. This feature is only available to Non-Mobile Accounts.
To enable, sign in to your Chikka Text Messenger account via Web or Downloadable client. Go to My Chikka > Settings > Messages > Choose Forward incoming messages to my email when I am offline/idle. You will need to verify your email address to use this feature.

What are Chikka Text Credits?
Chikka Text Credits are the number of text messages you can send per day. Please refer to chart below:

How can I purchase more Chikka Text Credits?
There is currently no way for users to purchase extra credits. But don't worry, credits are automatically replenished daily. You can also earn more credits every time your buddy replies to your Chikka message from his/her mobile phone.

I'm using a Philippine roaming SIM card from a foreign country, can I reply to Chikka messages from my mobile phone?
Replying to Chikka messages outside the Philippines means that the message will be transmitted through international carriers, so we cannot guarantee that replies will be received.
Charges for replies from outside the Philippines will also depend on your carrier. Please contact your mobile service provider for details.

My buddy has been sending messages to my Chikka account from his/her mobile phone, how come I am not receiving any messages when I'm online?
The old Chikka Text Messenger Version 4 is using the old access codes. 277 for Smart, 2371 for Globe and 2009 for Sun. If your buddy is sending text messages to the Old Access Code + Chikka ID, you will get the message when you sign in to Chikka Text Messenger Version 4. Only messages sent to 2814+Chikka ID (New access code) will be received in the new version.

How much will I get charged if I use Chikka?
Nothing, it's free! Sending Chikka messages from your PC or any supported online device to mobile phones in the Philippines is always free.

How much will my friend be charged if he receives my Chikka message?
It is always free to receive messages sent via Chikka.

How much will my friend get charged if he replies?
There are several plans available to mobile recipients when they reply to a Chikka Message.
Globe
- Bucket plan for P5/10 messages valid for 1 day. Text 5 to 2814.
- Peak Rate — P2.50 per message.
Sun
- Bucket plan for P5/10 messages valid for 1 day. Text 5 to 2814.
- Peak Rate — P2.00 per message
Smart
- UNLI plan for P20 only valid for 1 day. Text UNLI to 2814.
- Bucket plan for P5/10 messages valid for 1 day. Text 5 to 2814.

Privacy and Security

What is the anti-spam policy?
The anti-spam policy is set by telecommunications carrier to protect users from receiving unsolicited and unwanted messages. Most carriers allow you to send 2-3 messages before your buddy will be asked to reply. If your buddy does not reply, your buddy will no longer be able to receive Chikka messages from you.

My SIM card is no longer active but I still use the number to send messages from Chikka. Is this safe?
For security reasons, we encourage our users to delete Chikka accounts that belong to a deactivated mobile number.

How do I change my name and other details?
Go to My Chikka then My Account to manage your profile and Settings to customize your Chikka Text Messenger.

Can I view messages I received or sent?
Yes, you just need to change your settings to save the messages you sent and received. Sign in to your Chikka Account, go to My Chikka > Settings > Logs.
You can then view your message archive by going to My Chikka > My Account > Show Message Logs.
ChikkaLite Chrome Extension FAQ

How can I view my buddy list?
ChikkaLite for Chrome doesn't currently support an address book. However, you can assign/edit names to your message recipients.

Can I register my Philippine roaming number to ChikkaLite?
Yes, you may register your roaming Philippine mobile number with ChikkaLite but you cannot use your roaming number to reply to messages.

Can I send group messages?
Yes, you can send a message to a maximum of five (5) recipients at a time.

How do I manage my buddies from my ChikkaLite address book?
You can only edit/delete contacts who are not registered ChikkaLite users.

I get an Error message saying "Insufficient Credits" whenever I attempt to send a message via ChikkaLite, even if I still have credits. What should I do?
Try refreshing your page. If you continue to get the error message, send a report to the developer through the application page.

Can I use ChikkaLite when I'm accessing Facebook on mobile internet?
No, you may only access ChikkaLite on the web, via your Facebook account.
