Q. Can I install Chikka on my mobile phone?
A: No. Chikka Messenger lets you use your PC for sending text messages to mobile phones.
To install Chikka Messenger version 4 in your computer, your system should have the following:

Q. How do I create a Chikka account? A: If you have a mobile phone number or a valid email address, sign up here.
Q. What is a Unified account?
A: A unified account lets you to receive Chikka messages on your mobile phone when you're offline or idle. It also lets you retrieve your password, add or block buddies and view your online buddies on your mobile phone. Other mobile features may vary depending on your mobile service provider and country.

Q. What is a PC-only account?
A: If your mobile subscription is not listed as one of Chikka's supported carriers you may register for a PC only account by providing a valid email address. You can also set your Chikka messages to be forwarded to your email address when you're offline.
Your Chikka ID will be system generated. It is permanent and cannot be edited. You can use your Chikka ID or email address to sign in to your Chikka account.
You may change your email address in your profile at any time, as long as your email address is not registered with another Chikka account.
Q. Can I change my Chikka ID? A: No. Your Chikka ID is permanent. In case you lost your mobile phone or you changed numbers, please create a new account with your new number.
Q. I created a new Chikka account. Can I transfer my buddies from my old Chikka account to my new one? A: You may do this by manually adding your buddies from your old Chikka account to your new account.
Q. I forgot my password. How do I retrieve my password?
A: If you have a Unified account, you may retrieve your password on your mobile phone. Visit our Chikka on Mobile Phones page and click on your Country. Select your carrier from the list and view the section on Password Information for instructions on how to retrieve your password.
If you have a PC only account, go to www.chikka.com, click Forgot Password and enter your email address.
Q. I registered to Chikka from my mobile phone but when I try signing in with my mobile number and password, I get an error message saying that I'm not a registered user. What happened?
A: So that our system could recognize your account details, please make sure that you enter your mobile number using this format (for Unified accounts only):
COUNTRY CODE + AREA CODE (if applicable) + MOBILE NUMBER. Do not add a plus sign (+), spaces or zeroes. See examples below:

Q. How do I add buddies? A: Click the Add Buddy button and enter your buddy's mobile number. When you enter a mobile number, please follow the international format: country code + mobile number (for example: 63917899XXXX). You can also assign a screen name for your buddy.
Q. To which countries can I send Chikka text? A: You can send free text to mobile subscribers in the following countries: United States, Philippines, Guam, India, Hong Kong (Smart 1528 only), United Kingdom, Spain, Indonesia (XLcom only), Saipan and Italy.
Q. I was trying to send a message but I got an error message saying "Your recipient must respond to at least one of your messages before you can send again." Did my message get through? A: Yes your last message was delivered. However, messages you attempt to send after that and prior to your recipient's reply will not be sent.
Q. I'm receiving an error that says "You do not have enough credits to send a message." What does this mean?
A: You can send unlimited messages from your PC to your online buddies for free. However, sending text messages or MMS from your PC to mobile phones is limited depending on your recipients' region and mobile service provider.
To view your available Chikka credits, sign in to your account in the Chikka Text Messenger Version 4 client. Click on Options and then click on Credits.
Q. What is mobile forwarding? A: When you enable the mobile forwarding feature, you will receive messages sent to your Chikka or other IM accounts on your mobile phone whenever you are offline.
Q. How do I enable mobile/email forwarding?

On your Chikka Messenger V4 client, click on Options and then click on Preferences. Tick the box beside Forward all messages to my mobile phone/email when my PC is OFF.
Chikka Messenger for the Web
Click on the Settings tab. Under Messages, tick the box beside Enable mobile forwarding when I sign out. This feature is only available for unified accounts.
If you have a PC only account, you may only enable the email forwarding setting
Q. How can I delete my Chikka account?
A: Please send the details of your account to mailus@chikka.com.
For PC only Accounts
Please make sure to send in your Chikka ID and the reason why you want to delete your account. Please send your request from the email address registered in your Chikka profile so we could verify that you own the account you want to delete.
For Unified Accounts
Please send your Chikka ID, password, email address registered (if any) and reason for deleting your account. Please send your request from the email address registered in your Chikka profile so we could verify that you own the account you want to delete.
Q. I lost my GSM/SIM card, can I still use Chikka? A: If you used that SIM card's number to register to Chikka, we strongly advise that you create a new account. Please notify us immediately so we can delete your old account.

You will need to sign in to your Chikka account in the all-new Chikka as Text Plus is currently only available in this version.
Q. How do I pay for international text I send via Chikka? A: When you send text messages using Chikka Text Plus, your Chikka Wallet account is charged the applicable fees and credits are deducted accordingly. If you don't have a Chikka Wallet yet, create one here.

Q. How do I sign in to my other IM accounts? A: Simply enter your user information for Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, AIM, MSN, and ICQ accounts together with your Chikka sign-in information on the web-based Chikka sign-in page and then click on the Sign In button.
Q. What is Auto Sign-in? A: The auto sign-in feature of the web-based Chikka lets you access your other IMs conveniently. When you choose this option, you will be automatically signed in to your other IM accounts every time you're on the web-based Chikka.
Q. How do I cancel the Auto sign in feature for other IMs?
A: When signed in to Chikka Text Messenger for the Web, click on the IM icon in which you want to disable Auto sign in. The IM icons linked to your other IM accounts are found on top of your buddy list.
Uncheck the Auto sign in option box. You will need to sign out and then sign in again for the change to take effect.
Q. Can I send load from the all new Chikka? A: The Send Load feature is currently available only in the Chikka Text Messenger Version 4. Download Chikka Messenger Version 4 here.
Q. I got this error message on Chikka.com: "You are currently logged-in to Chikka as < XXXX Chikka ID >. If you wish to log-in as another user, please click here." But I can't view my buddy list. What's wrong?
A: This message is displayed when
- you close your Internet browser without logging out
- your Internet browser unexpectedly terminated
- you are logged in to Chikka in another open browser or tab window
To continue your session in Chikka, please refresh your browser by pressing Ctrl + F5 at the same time and enter your account details.
Q. Do you keep my personal sign-in information to other IM networks when I sign in to Chikka? A: We store your sign-in information in our servers only when you choose to be signed in automatically to your other IMs. When you opt to sign-in to your other IMs manually, your information is used only to give you access to your other IM accounts via Chikka.
Q. What do you do with my personal sign-in information to other IM networks? A: If you opt to sign in automatically, your information will be stored in our servers so our system can remember who you are on your next sign in.
